MOVING ACROSS THE CURRICULUM
Dancing the Hero’s Journey PREK-12
Humans face obstacles and experience struggles daily. Great heroes throughout history and beloved characters in books have grown through adversity to create positive change. How can we engage students in the study of these figures to identify traits and events that led them to overcome challenges? Students will use creative movement to retell key details of both real-life heroes’ journeys and fictional characters. You don’t want to miss this opportunity to empower your students to inspire change by blending meaningful social emotional skills with the analysis and comprehension of texts.
Dance the Cycles and Sequences PREK-8
Cycles and Sequences are found across the curriculum- lifecycles, story and procedure retelling, timelines, and order of operations. Learn how to facilitate creative movement as a form of communication and expression in the classroom. Students will be guided through creating movement phrases that can be used to deepen and assess understanding across content areas.

RHYTHM & RHYME ACROSS THE CURRICULUM
Curriculum Based HIP HOP K-12
Many studies have documented that children’s ability to hold a steady beat is critical to developing their reading fluency. This residency explores the powerful relationship between music, reading fluency, and writing. Students will learn skill-building activities designed to improve their understanding of syllabification and accent, visual tracking skills, and overall reading fluency. We will explore children’s nursery rhymes, poems, and hip-hop songs that fit into a meter of 4 and engaging students in reading with vocal rhythm and inflection. Finally, students will be led through a creative writing process that uses rhythm, rhyme, and form to shape poems and lyrics that connect to content standards across the curriculum. This experience provides the tools to help children of today become the confident creatives of tomorrow.

PAINT ACROSS THE CURRICULUM
THE ELEMENTS OF ART IN A WORD 2ND-12TH
A picture can say a thousand words. What if students were given the tools to synthesize big ideas and themes across the curriculum through the creation of a work of art? Throughout this experience, students develop an understanding of the 8 elements of art as a vehicle for creative expression. Full integration of these visual art building blocks give students a language to demonstrate understanding of content or spark a much-needed conversation in their community.

BREATHE ACROSS THE CURRICULUM
BREATH AND CHARACTER PREK-12
Stress and anxiety affect almost all of us on a daily basis. Some may feel it more frequently and with greater intensity than others. Over the course of this experience, students will learn powerful tools to cope with stress and anxiety. They will also learn to be more compassionate empathetic with people in their community. Through storytelling, movement, breath, and journaling, students become empowered to choose presence and peace over fear and reactivity when faced with trying circumstances.
